This liturgy, practiced in the absence of justice, is so seriously malformed that God finds it disgusting. Over and over, when justice is spoken of, it is these four groups, widows, orphans, foreigners, the poor, that are brought to the forefront. The kind of justice that will mark a life of authentic worship is a justice that draws near to the weak, the vulnerable, the oppressed. Works of justice don't save us, but there are marks of a heart that is authentically turned to God.
