God is forming a people who will live differently because they belong to him.

What does it mean to be Holy?

1. Holiness Means Treating Life as Sacred

Leviticus 17:11

For the life of a creature is in the blood.

2. Holiness Means Protecting the Relationships That Give Life

Leviticus 18:1-5

The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. 3 You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. 4 You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lord your God. 5 Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.

The family was the central network of relationships through which people were nurtured, protected, and formed.

Leviticus 18:6-7

6 “‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the Lord.

7 “‘Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.

21 “‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.

22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman..."

Our sexuality matters because people matter.

3. Holiness Means Loving Our Neighbors in Ordinary Life

"Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy." Leviticus 19:2

Leviticus 1

• honoring parents and keeping the Sabbath.

• leaving the edges of the harvest for the poor and the foreigner. 

• refusing to steal, lie, or deceive.

• paying workers fairly and promptly.

• not endangering a neighbor's life, holding grudges, or hating someone in your heart.

• showing respect to the elderly.

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself. Leviticus 19:33–34

Holiness does not ask, "What am I allowed to do?" Holiness asks, "What does love require of me?"

4. Holiness Is a Different Way of Being Human

Chapter 17 teaches the Israelites to treat life as sacred.

Chapter 18 calls them to honor the boundaries and commitments that protect people and families.

Chapter 19 shows what holiness looks like in everyday relationships, economic life, and care for the vulnerable.

Chapter 20 reinforces the seriousness of these commitments for the community as a whole.

"I am the LORD your God."

Restoration is a community of people intentionally forming one another to become more like Jesus.

Holiness isn't about proving that we're better than everyone else.

Restoration KIDS is created for kids aged infant to 5th grade. Check in your kids in the Family Room when you arrive, and then join all together for music worship in the Gathering Room.
