“At some point in this generation, "Take up your cross and follow me" changed into, "Come to Jesus and he'll make your life better.”

13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard[c] and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
No matter what happens, all of you live as Citizens of the Gospel of the King
15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach the King out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.
18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
The Redemptive Edge
The God we worship is able to take evil, cut into it with redemption, and dig out good!
1. Some People Get Angry at God
2. God is in Control
The Gospel hope is not that everything that happens to you is the will of God!
The Gospel hope is that no matter what happens to you, God is with you!
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good…
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
“What has happened to me”
The Redemptive Edge: How has God cut into that?
Because of _________ I rejoice!
